Susan Clayton, B.S. Food Business Management, 2001
Quality Control Supervisor, Smucker's, Orrville, Ohio

At Smucker’s, I ensure all quality standards are met during the shift I’m working. I make many line inspections to make sure that production is running correctly; if not, it is my responsibility to document any product that must be held for further evaluation.

My experience at OSU Food Science and Technology helped me immensely. With the knowledge I got from OSU, I am not intimidated by the food industry at all. It gave me a great basis of the industry’s vocabulary and practices. OSU lets you get involved with every detail of production, and the more experience you have, the more of an edge you have over your competition.

Advice to those considering a food science degree: If you have the dedication, patience and determination for a job in the food industry, it will be very rewarding and fulfilling.
